At the end of 2006, the Minerva Action was replaced by the “ICT Key Activity” in the Lifelong Learning Programme 2007-2013.
Minerva helped teachers, learners and decision-makers take advantage of opportunities offered by advances in technology, especially regarding distance learning and innovations in multimedia education.
- to promote an understanding of the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Open and Distance Learning (ODL) in education
- to ensure that education is considered in the development of ICT and multimedia-based products and services
- to promote access to improved methods and educational resources as well as to results and best practices
Minerva supported a wide range of projects. Some were aimed at developing educational resources and methods on the basis of innovative experiments. Others involved the development of studies or comparative analysis of particular aspects of ODL and/or the use of new educational technologies at European level, while others set up information and communication services.
